Time Warner Cable

Last night I received an email (below) from Time Warner Cable, my TV and internet provider.  They are allowing customers to call Japan for free given the recent destruction that has left many searching for loved ones.

This is so great to see.  It’s fantastic that TWC saw the number of calls to Japan and reacted, not by counting the dollar signs, but thinking about why those calls were being made.  I’m happy support TWC in their efforts… even if my bill is over $130 a month.

CALLS TO JAPAN FREE FOR TIME WARNER CABLE CUSTOMERS

Many of the communities Time Warner Cable serves have customers worried about family, friends and colleagues in Japan.  As a result of the events that took place on March 11, 2011, we have seen an increase in the number of calls made by our customers to Japan.  All direct dial calls placed using our Digital Home Phone service to Japan will be free through April 15, 2011. This program includes both residential Digital Home Phone and Business Class Phone customers and will be retroactive for all calls starting on March 11, 2011.

Digital Home Phone Customers who are making calls to Japan during the eligible period do not need to make any changes to their accounts in order to take advantage of this program.  This program will cover any Time Warner Cable Digital Home Phone and Time Warner Cable Business Class Phone subscriber making a direct call to Japan. Calls to operators or directory assistance will continue to be charged at the usual rate.

We’re here for you, so you can be there for them. For more information, click here.

Fill In The Blank

I’m often asked, what (fill in the blank) should I use?  Email management, eCommerce, blogging platforms, there’s 5 or more different options for each need.  Why recreate the wheel, the peeps over at Clover have made a nice list to get you started.  If you don’t find what you are looking for just trying “Googling” it.  That means, go to www.google.com, then write your question in the box.

Chelsea Dog Park

If you don’t know, we have a Brussels Griffon, his name is Mr. Guinness.  “Guinness” is a huge fan of the Chelsea Dog Park.  He likes to climb the rocks (common for his breed), chase other dogs and occasionally be chased by others.  Last week was his first time back at this specific dog park // it’s been a long cold winter here, and we have grown out his coat to help with the chilly wind.

Panna II x 4

Are you getting the picture yet? This place is nuts! BYOB… Order at your own risk… No room to move!

Panna II East Village

If have never been – it’s a must. It’s like a door into India you could even confuse Ghandi. The greatest mystery is, how can they afford the electric bill? With thousands of chili pepper lights flashing you are put into a daze moving to the Indi-dance beat. And if Panna II is full look to the left an go to Panna I which is the brothers restaurant next door, a carbon copy.

The 2 Friends Tour

Saturday was a night when Nashville was in “the house”.  Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith performed at The Beacon on the UWS in Manhattan.  I think the last time Amy and Michael were on tour I was still coloring with crayons and eating blended carrots.  They sounded great, it was awesome to have them in the city.

Here’s a little secret.  Next time you want to find MWS while he’s in your city.  Just camp out at the local G-Star (provided you have one) and wait there, he’s bound to turn up.  He dresses well and he likes G-Star, he told me once.

Side note, before the concert Elisha and I ate sushi at Fusha, on 75th & Amsterdam.  After dinner (since it was my cheat day) I said, “I want a cookie”.  So Elisha looked up (on the iPhone) “cookies” and Levain Bakery popped up.  Now it wasn’t until our good friend Scott showed up and gave us the 411.  Scott is actually Dr. Scott, is “Mr. UWS” and took the top photo.  Apparently Levain Bakery has the best cookies in Manhattan – yep, he was right.  One of the best cookies I have ever had!  See below, and visit if you don’t believe me.

Tonight

Have you ever heard a song for the first time and instantly liked it?  I heard this song when I went to the screening of The Grace Card tonight.  The song is called City On Our Knees by Toby Mac.
